Selim Bayrak

Selim Bayrak began their career in 2009 as an intern at TIRSAN Treyler A.S. Selim then interned at OTOKAR Otomotiv ve Savunma Sanayi A.Ş. in 2010. From 2012 to 2016, Selim worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Optare PLC, where they designed Euro 5 and Euro 6 engine packs for buses. Selim then worked as an Exhaust & Air Intake Module Project Engineer and Cooling Systems Lead Engineer at Jaguar Land Rover from 2016 to 2020. In 2020, Selim began their MSc Artificial Intelligence at City, University of London, where they created a Stock Price Predictor using NYSE, NASDAQ, and NYSE MKT data from 1980 - 2020. In 2021, Selim worked as a Data Scientist on a Postgraduate Dissertation Project at Rolls-Royce, where they adapted NLP question answering methods to the Aerospace Engineering domain. Currently, Selim is a Data Scientist at Portcast, where they work on the software for predicting the estimated time of arrival for ocean cargo vessels, deploys models in production for predicting the next destination port for each vessel, and implements a logic including sequence alignment methods for ranking different vessel schedule providers based on their past performance.

Selim Bayrak has a diverse educational background. From 2006 to 2010, they attended Yildiz Technical University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Selim then went on to Coventry University from 2010 to 2011, where they earned a Master of Science in Automotive Engineering. Most recently, from 2020 to 2021, Selim obtained a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence from City, University of London. In addition, Selim has obtained two certifications from Harvard University and IBM in 2020.
