Andrew Ruginis

Director of Technology at Portland Art Museum

Andrew Ruginis is the current Director of Technology at the Portland Art Museum. Andrew previously served as the Director of Information Technology for the Chicago Architecture Foundation from April 2011 to June 2015. In this role, they were responsible for leading the technical vision for a staff of 60 employees and overseeing the technology budget. Andrew also served on the 5-year strategic planning committee and was instrumental in the organization's first mobile-enabled website launch.

Ruginis began their career in the museum field as the Director of Information Technology for The Field Museum from June 2006 to April 2011. In this role, they managed the museum's 100+ node network, including desktops, laptops, tablets, smart phones, and servers. Andrew also developed and proposed new technology initiatives to executive leadership and board members.

Under Ruginis' leadership, both organizations have made great strides in expanding and modernizing their use of technology. Andrew is a recognized leader in the museum field, and their work has helped make museums more accessible and engaging for audiences around the world.

Andrew Ruginis has a M.S. in Computer Science from DePaul University, a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Marquette University, and has completed the Institute of Professional Development from DePaul University. Andrew also attended Benet Academy.

They work with John Goodwin - Director of Community Philanthropy, Karie Burch - Director of Development, and Stephanie Parrish - Director of Learning & Community Partnerships. Their manager is Brian Ferriso, Executive Director & Chief Curator.
