Martha Izenson

Board Member at Portland Jewish Academy

Martha is a public interest attorney with Native American Program, a statewide, specialty office under the Legal Aid Services of Oregon umbrella. Martha’s practice combines a unique blend of end-of-life planning and probate, and litigation of various poverty law issues in a wide array of tribal court systems, state court systems and federal administrative forums. After relocating to Portland in the early 1990s from the southern United States, Martha quickly adapted to Pacific Northwest culture, owning a small espresso cart business (of course!) and earning an undergraduate degree at Portland State University, while her oldest son attended the MJCC’s Early Childhood Learning Center. Prior to the decision to attend Lewis and Clark Law School, Martha spent over 10 years at Oregon Health and Science University taking on positions of increasing administrative and financial management responsibilities. Today, she and her husband, Brian, have happily launched two adult sons and have a third son, Dayton, who is a thriving middle-schooler at PJA. A strong believer in tikkun olam and tzedakah through action, Martha is honored to dedicate her personal time to numerous professional and community organizations. In her remaining free time, Martha enjoys cooking and spending her time traveling and adventuring outdoors - on both two feet and two wheels.
