Tamar has been actively involved in the PJA Giving Circle, is a member of the MJCC, is the mother of two PJA students, and is a prior co-Chair of Kehillah, PJA's Parents Association. Tamar received her undergraduate degree at UC San Diego and holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from USC and a Master of Public Health degree from UCLA. Since 2008, Tamar has worked for the Veterans Health Administration – Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System as a Health Research Scientist. She also serves as Senior Research Associate in the Department of Family Medicine at OHSU. At the present time, Tamar serves as the Veterans Emergency Management Evaluation Center's Associate Director for Clinical and is the Principal Investigator on a number of projects, with a focus on home-based primary care, home health care, and evaluating the role of the VA Emergency Manager. Her current projects at OHSU are health services research studies examining the information needs, processes, and structures of primary care clinical teams. Previously, Tamar served as a research scientist and project director on various public health research studies and worked as a physical therapist for several different agencies and in private practice. Tamar is the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships for her work, and she has authored or co-authored over two dozen peer-reviewed, academic journal articles. Tamar is also on the Board of the Eastside Jewish Commons (EJC) and will be one of the EJC OnBoard fellows in 2021.
