Jey Buno has a strong background in education and student support services. They currently hold the position of Chief of Student Support Services at Portland Public Schools, a role they started in November 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Interim Chief of Student Support Services from July to November 2022. Jey also held the position of Senior Director of Special Education at Portland Public Schools from July 2021 to August 2022.
Before joining Portland Public Schools, Jey worked at Evergreen Public Schools for over 20 years. They held various positions during their tenure, including Executive Director of Special Services and Federal Programs from July 2015 to July 2021, Director of Special Services from October 2012 to July 2015, Assistant Director of Special Education from August 2010 to October 2012, Area Coordinator from August 2008 to August 2010, Special Education Coordinator from October 2007 to July 2008, and School Psychologist from August 2001 to October 2007. Jey's vast experience in educational leadership and student support makes them a valuable asset in their current role at Portland Public Schools.
Jey Buno earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Idaho in 1998. From 1999 to 2001, they pursued an EdS degree in School Psychology at the same university. In 2011, Jey attended City University of Seattle to obtain an Administrative Certificate in Educational Leadership and Administration, General, which was completed in 2012.
