Customer Insights Coordinator at Portland Trail Blazers

Ryan Horiuchi has a diverse work experience across various industries. Ryan started their professional career as a Project Intern at FOX Sports University in 2020, where they worked on a project for several months. In 2021, they joined the University of Oregon Athletic Department as a Football/Hayward Ambassador, a role they held until 2021.

During the same year, Ryan also worked as an MPA Ambassador for the Manning Passing Academy LLC, where they collaborated with senior leadership and staff to execute a four-day overnight football camp. Ryan was recognized with the 2021 Osiel Mendoza Award for their outstanding performance in this role.

Ryan's experience at the University of Oregon also included roles in UO Club Sports, where they served as Vice President of the Men's Lacrosse Club and as the Fundraising Coordinator. Ryan was also a part of the Club Sports Advisory Board.

In 2021, Ryan had an internship with NBC Olympics, where they worked on projects for a few months.

Ryan then joined Nico's Ice Cream LLC in 2021 as a Startup/Wholesale Coordinator. In this role, they worked closely with the founder to shape and execute the business's vision, from ideation and branding to the growth of a push cart and the introduction of a retail storefront.

In 2022, Ryan worked at the World Athletics Championships Oregon22, where they held two different roles. Ryan first served as the Student Rec Center Venue Operations Manager, overseeing the execution of VIP hospitality and athlete training and physio venues. Ryan then transitioned to the role of World Athletics Family Experience Coordinator, contributing to the planning and delivery of the VIP experience for over 900 VIPs from around the world.

In 2017, Ryan worked at David Efaw Productions, where they were a Casino Games Dealer and an Event Set-Up Manager. Their responsibilities included dealing with multiple casino games and providing excellent customer service. Ryan also assisted with the setup and breakdown of casino games for various events.

Finally, in 2021, Ryan joined the Portland Trail Blazers @ the Rose Quarter as a Customer Insights Intern, and later advanced to the position of Customer Insights Coordinator. In this role, they worked with all departments across the organization to improve the customer experience, utilizing tools such as Qualtrics Surveys, AI Chatbot, and CRM. Ryan also championed multiple large solution-oriented projects and fulfilled various ad-hoc survey and insights requests.

Ryan Horiuchi began their education at Central Catholic High School in Portland, where they completed an honors program from 2013 to 2017. Ryan then attended the University of Oregon from 2017 to 2021, where they pursued a degree in Marketing at the Robert D. Clark Honors College and a degree in Business Administration with a focus on Sports Business and Finance at the Lundquist College of Business. Throughout their education, Ryan also obtained various certifications, including a Certificate of Global Business from the University of Oregon in August 2021, a NBA Gaming Policy Certificate from the National Basketball Association (NBA) in December 2022, a Modern Ticketing Essentials: Beyond the Ticket certificate from Front Office Sports in September 2022, a Professional Networking for Career Starters certificate from LinkedIn in May 2021, a Sports Business Strategy in English Premier League Football certificate from InSport Education in September 2020, and an Induction Certificate from The National Society of Leadership and Success in May 2019.
