John Murphy (C Eng MIEI)

John Murphy has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Currently, they are the Co-Founder and CEO of Portmagee Whiskey, a company that specializes in crafting small batches of Irish Whiskey. Prior to this, they served in the Irish Defence Forces for many years, holding several roles such as Commandant and Captain (Engineer Officer). During their time there, they were involved in project management, operations planning, and staff advisory roles. Additionally, they have entrepreneurial experience as the Co-Founder and CEO of Bold Puppy Ltd, an independent film and media production company, and FiftyTwoWords, an events organization focused on storytelling. John also worked as an Engineering Technician at Iveragh Co-Operative. Overall, John Murphy's work experience showcases their leadership, management, and entrepreneurial skills.

John Murphy (C Eng MIEI) has a diverse education background. John earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (Level 8) from the University of Limerick between 2005 and 2008. Prior to that, they completed a Certificate in Mechanical Engineering from Munster Technological University from 2001 to 2003.

In 2003, John attended the Cadet School at the Military College, Defense Forces Training Centre in Ireland, where they obtained a Level 7 Diploma in Military Studies and Leadership from NUI Maynooth. This program was completed in 2005.

More recently, in 2019, John pursued a Post Grad Level 8 Degree in Leadership, Defense, and Contemporary Security at Maynooth University.

Additionally, in 2018, John obtained the Chartered Engineer (C Engr MIEI) certification from Engineers Ireland.
