Sophie Fuchs is a Doctoral Researcher at the PIK - Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, focusing on political economy constraints for sectoral mitigation options since October 2022. Prior to this, Fuchs served as a Policy Advisor in the International Climate Policy Team at Germanwatch e.V., specializing in climate and development banks and sustainable finance from April 2018 to August 2022. Fuchs has also worked as a Researcher at the Kiel Institut für Weltwirtschaft, concentrating on the European Emission Trading Scheme from February 2017 to March 2018, and as a Consultant at Meo Carbon Solutions, focusing on the Renewable Energy Directive and biofuels during the same period. An internship at Deutsche Bundesbank involved research on carbon bubble risks in the German financial sector. Earlier experience includes a student assistant role at DIW Berlin and internships at the French Embassy in Berlin and Deutsche Auslandshandelskammern. Fuchs holds a Master of Science in Economics from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and a Bachelor of Arts in Governance and Public Policy from Universität Passau, along with a Certificat d'Études Politiques from Sciences Po Toulouse.
