Megumi Takayama

Senior Vice President, Public Affairs at Powell Tate

Megumi Takayama has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in public affairs, global communications, and government relations. Megumi currently serves as the Senior Vice President and Head of Public Affairs at Weber Shandwick. Prior to this, they held positions as Vice President at Golin and Powell Tate, where they specialized in public affairs.

Before their transition into the communications field, Megumi worked in the Japanese government for several years. Megumi held roles in the Prime Minister's Office, Cabinet Secretariat, and Cabinet Office, where they played an instrumental role in developing and executing global communications strategies.

Earlier in their career, Megumi worked in the private sector, gaining experience in cross-border project management and government advisory at Tepia Corporation. Megumi also has experience in finance, having worked as a trader and in special account management at Skandia Life Insurance and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, respectively.

Megumi Takayama's education history includes obtaining a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree in Marketing, Service Marketing, Consumer Behavior, and Branding/Brand Management from Hitotsubashi ICS (Hitotsubashi University Business School) between 2017 and 2023. In 2018, they also participated in the Georgetown University Leadership Program. Prior to that, Megumi Takayama earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Vlerick Business School in 2010-2011, focusing on Impact investment, Investment analysis, and Project development. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in "Learning the R Tidyverse" from LinkedIn in 2022 and a Real Estate Notary / Real Estate Transaction Specialist License from the Ministry of land, Infrastructure and Transportation.
