A day in the life:

This position requires a deep understanding of Salesforce functionalities, mainly Commerce Cloud, Sales Cloud, and Service Cloud, as well as proficiency in custom development using Apex, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and debugging innovative Salesforce solutions that translate complex business requirements into effective, user-friendly applications and processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and customize Salesforce applications using Apex, Lightning Components, and Visualforce pages to meet evolving business needs
  • Ensure robust integration of Salesforce with other systems and platforms, utilizing APIs and middleware tools to streamline operations and enhance data flow
  • Maintain high standards of data management and security within Salesforce, applying best practices to safeguard information and enhance system performance
  • Collaborate closely with business analysts and project managers to understand and deliver on business requirements while providing technical insights and solutions
  • Participate actively in development cycles, including planning, coding, testing, and deployment, using agile methodologies to deliver high-quality software solutions
  • Employ AI technologies to enhance and optimize business processes
  • Utilize and leverage Power Digital's Nova ecosystem as it relates to your department

Role Requirements:

  • Salesforce CRM Knowledge: Understanding the functionalities and capabilities of the Salesforce platform is essential. This includes knowledge of Commerce Cloud, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and other Salesforce products. 
  • Programming Experience: Experience in programming languages such as Apex (Salesforce's proprietary language), JavaScript, HTML, and CSS is highly valuable. Apex is particularly important as it is Salesforce's backend language.
  • Development of Lightning Components (Preferred): Knowing how to develop and work with Lightning Components, which are user interface elements on the Salesforce Lightning platform.
  • Visualforce Pages (Preferred): Although used less frequently due to Lightning, knowledge of Visualforce is still useful, as many organizations still have Visualforce pages in use.
  • Database and SOQL Knowledge (Preferred): Understanding database concepts and being able to use Salesforce Object Query Language (SOQL) to retrieve data from the Salesforce database.
  • Data Management and Security (Preferred): Understanding how to manage data within Salesforce and how to apply security and privacy settings.
  • Integrations: Knowing how to integrate Salesforce with other applications and services, which may include the use of APIs and middleware tools.
  • Experienced with Figma and/or Zeplin (Preferred).
  • Experienced in upholding established development processes (e.g. code reviews, style guides, pattern libraries)
  • Experienced and proficient in source control (gitlab / Github).

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Development Cycle Time: Measure the time from initial code write to deployment for new features, aiming to reduce cycle time by 5% annually to increase development agility.
  • Code Quality and Stability: Maintain a bug discovery rate of less than 2% of new code deployments. Achieve a 80% pass rate on first-run code reviews, emphasizing high-quality, maintainable code.
  • Salesforce Integration Success Rate: Successfully integrate Salesforce with at least two new external systems or platforms annually, with a 95% uptime. Measure the stability and performance of integrations, aiming for less than 1% integration-related issues.
  • Salesforce Feature Utilization: Develop and deploy a set number of new Salesforce Lightning components or Visualforce pages each quarter, with a utilization rate by end-users of over 68% within the first month of release.
  • Data Management Efficiency: Improve data retrieval times by optimizing SOQL queries, aiming for a 8% improvement in response times year over year. Ensure 100% compliance with data security standards, with zero breaches of security incidents related to improper data handling.

  • Code Quality and Efficiency: Focus on writing clean, efficient, and reusable code that aligns with established development standards and best practices.
  • Understanding Business and User Needs: Thoroughly understand the business requirements and user needs to ensure that the front-end interfaces and Salesforce functionalities effectively address them.
  • Continuous Learning and Salesforce Expertise: Continually enhance Salesforce skills, including staying updated with the latest Salesforce releases and features. Engage in paid training and achieve at least one new Salesforce certification annually.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Maintain effective communication with team members and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding and alignment on project goals. Regularly participate in code reviews and collaborative sessions to foster a team-oriented environment.
  • Security and Data Management: Adhere strictly to data security and privacy settings within Salesforce to ensure that all data handling is compliant with regulatory standards and company policies.
