Julia Hillengas

Julia Hillengas has extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Julia started their career as a Data Clerk at Women's Opportunities Resource Center in 2005. Julia then worked as a Mathematics Assistant Teacher at Freire Charter School from 2006 to 2008. After that, they served as an IT Instructor at YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School from 2008 to 2009. In 2010, they became a Manager at Performance Bicycles.

Julia's experience in the City of Philadelphia began in 2011, where they held several positions. Julia started as an Americorps VISTA at the Mayor's Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service, followed by a role as a Project Coordinator for the Graduation Coach Campaign. Julia then became the Manager of College Access Partnerships with PhillyGoes2College before serving as Deputy Service Officer and Director of PowerCorpsPHL Partnerships.

In 2016, Julia joined PowerCorpsPHL as the Director of Strategic Innovation until 2019 when they were promoted to Executive Director. Alongside their role at PowerCorpsPHL, they also served as the PowerCorpsPHL Executive Director at EducationWorks from 2017 to 2023.

Throughout their career, Julia has shown a strong commitment to workforce development and education in Philadelphia.

Julia Hillengas has a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Secondary Education and Teaching from Temple University, which they obtained from 2008 to 2009. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Government from Temple University, completing their studies from 2005 to 2008. In 2015, Julia received a Graduate Certificate in Social Impact Strategy from the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, they obtained a CSM High Performance Certificate from CSMlearn in October 2020.
