Maitham Al-Lawati has a diverse work experience that spans over several years and includes various roles in the field of cybersecurity, risk management, and technology. Starting in 2006, they worked as the Head of IT at Al Qandeel Real Estate, where they established and managed the IT infrastructure for the group and successfully delivered projects worth over USD $100 million. In 2009, they briefly served as a Risk Consultant at AIESEC.
In 2010, Maitham joined EY as a Consultant in Risk & Assurance, before moving on to Oman Arab Bank later that year. At Oman Arab Bank, they were responsible for establishing the Information Security Section and program from scratch. During their tenure, they successfully established the Information Security Section and developed the Information Security Policy.
In 2012, Maitham joined Oman Data Park, a cloud and managed service provider, as Head of Risk & Compliance. Maitham was part of the executive founding team and played a crucial role in establishing the company's Risk Management, Compliance, and Managed Security Services practice. In 2017, they were promoted to the position of General Manager - Risk, Compliance, and Cyber Security.
In 2020, Maitham became the Vice President of Technology and Operations at Oman Data Park, overseeing the technological and operational aspects of the company. Maitham held this position until 2021 when they transitioned to the role of Senior Advisor. In this role, they provided valuable guidance and expertise to the organization.
Since 2022, Maitham has been serving as the Chief Executive Officer of PowerDMARC, a company focused on helping organizations worldwide protect their domain names and combat phishing and impersonation. Maitham oversees the company's operations, utilizing PowerDMARC's threat intelligence and AI capabilities to provide effective solutions to clients. PowerDMARC has built an extensive client base that includes Fortune 100 companies and government agencies across 45 countries.
Additionally, Maitham is a member of the Forbes Technology Council, joining in 2023 to contribute their expertise to the council's discussions and initiatives. With their certifications in CISSP, CISM, and CRISC, Maitham Al-Lawati demonstrates a strong commitment to professional development and a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity and risk management.
Maitham Al-Lawati holds a Master of Business Administration - Global MBA from Alliance Manchester Business School, which they obtained from 2018 to 2019. Maitham received their BSc in Commerce and Economics with a focus on Information Systems from Sultan Qaboos University from 2006 to 2010.
