Manos V. Obessis

Manos Obessis is Executive Vice President and Partner of PowerGEM. He provides consulting services to power generation developers and system operators on technical and economic aspects of the interconnected network and the evolution of the power markets. His technical expertise includes interconnection procedures and requirements, grid planning and analysis, and system congestion management. He has undertaken numerous feasibility and interconnection studies for new generation and merchant transmission projects that include steady state, stability and short circuit analysis. He has been leading major market and planning studies involving fossil and renewable generation, as well as congestion analysis and flowgate identification efforts.

Prior to joining PowerGEM, Dr. Obessis was a Manager/Senior Consultant with Power Technologies, Inc. (PTI). He worked on a variety of consulting assignments involving transmission planning, generation siting, and economic analysis of power systems. He has also participated in efforts leading to development of market models and simulation methods combining generation and transmission concerns, and spot price predictions.

Manos Obessis holds MS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Economics and a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems). He is the author of a number of technical publications in the area of power generation and transmission. Dr. Obessis is a Senior Member of IEEE.
