Aaron Cheng has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Aaron is currently the Chief Executive Officer at PowerGen Renewable Energy since January 2021. Prior to this role, they served as the President of PowerGen from January 2018 to December 2020. Additionally, they held the position of CFO & VP Corporate Strategy at PowerGen from June 2015 to December 2017.

In 2018, Aaron took on the role of Founder & Board Member at Africa Minigrid Developers Association (AMDA). Aaron played a key role in establishing AMDA as the voice of the private power utility sector in Africa. Aaron led the development of principles and guidelines for a scalable, pan-Africa, and results-based donor funding program to support mini-grids and energy access. This program later became the Universal Electrification Facility run by Sustainable Energy for All. Aaron held this position at AMDA from April 2018 to November 2021.

Before their involvement in the renewable energy sector, Aaron pursued an MBA at Harvard Business School, where they were a candidate from August 2014 to May 2015. Aaron also has experience in private equity investment as a Private Equity Investor at Accel-KKR from August 2012 to August 2014. Prior to that, they worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions division at Barclays Capital from July 2010 to June 2012.

Aaron Cheng's education history includes a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from Harvard Business School, which they obtained from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley from 2006 to 2010. At Berkeley, they earned dual degrees, namely a B.A. in Economics and a B.A. in Political Economics of the Industrialized Societies.
