Denise Johnson has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Denise started their career at WakeMed in 2007, where they worked as a Recreation Therapist specializing in traumatic brain injury and other conditions. During their time at WakeMed, they also assisted with the Triangle Aphasia Project day program and provided day programming for individuals with MS, brain injury, and stroke.

In 2010, Denise joined Community Workforce Solutions as the Gateway Clubhouse Coordinator. In this role, they supervised and planned day-to-day activities for brain injury survivors and wrote annual individualized goal plans with members.

In 2018, Denise transitioned to the events industry and joined 39 West Catering as a Catering, Event Planner, and Coordinator. Denise held this position until 2020, gaining experience in organizing and managing events.

Most recently, Denise joined Praecipio in 2020 as an Inside Sales Associate and later transitioned to the role of Enterprise Sales Consultant-Licensing.

Denise Johnson obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreational Therapy from East Carolina University. Denise attended the university from 2003 to 2007. Additionally, Denise has obtained several certifications in various sales-related subjects from LinkedIn, including Marketing Virtual Events, Pivoting to Virtual Events, Asking Great Sales Questions, Prepare Yourself for a Career in Sales, Sales Foundations, Sales Negotiation, Sales: Closing Strategies, Sales: Handling Objections, and Soft Skills for Sales Professionals. These certifications were obtained in 2021, with the earliest certification obtained in March and the latest certifications obtained in September.
