Bernard Little, Ph.D. has extensive experience in the field of student affairs. Bernard is currently serving as the Vice President for Student Affairs at Prairie State College starting from 2023. Prior to this role, they were the Dean for Students & Chief Diversity Officer at Waubonsee Community College from 2019 to 2023.
From 2016 to 2019, Dr. Little worked as the Assistant Dean of Students at DePaul University, where they managed and supported the university's student conduct program and collaborated with various campus and community stakeholders on behavioral intervention and conduct-policy violations.
Bernard also has a background in leadership roles, having served as the Associate Director at the Center for Student Involvement at the University of Illinois at Chicago from 2014 to 2016, and as the AD for Multicultural Affairs/AD for Class Programs at the University of Chicago from 2011 to 2014.
Earlier in their career, Dr. Little worked in student affairs at the University of Richmond and Miami University. Overall, they bring a wealth of experience in managing student affairs, leading teams, and coordinating large-scale programs and events.
Bernard Little, Ph.D. earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Leadership from DePaul University, completing their studies from 2017 to 2022. Prior to this, they obtained a Master of Science degree in Leadership from Miami University between 2007 and 2009. Bernard started their academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from Bowling Green State University, a four-year program they attended from 2003 to 2007.
