Laurel Thompson

Laurel Thompson is a seasoned professional in the fields of art and dance therapy, with extensive experience since 1985 as a Full-time Tenure-Track Professor at Pratt Institute, where Laurel has also served as the Chairperson of the Creative Arts Therapy Department. In addition, Laurel has maintained a Private Practice in Psychotherapy since 1987, specializing in trauma, eating disorders, and dissociative disorders through dance/movement and art therapy. Active in professional organizations, Laurel has held various roles, including a member of the Education Committee for the American Art Therapy Association and Chair of Education, Research & Practice for the American Dance Therapy Association. With a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies specializing in Creative Arts Therapy from Union Institute & University and numerous certifications in related fields, Laurel has contributed significantly to art therapy education and practice.
