Monique Giroux

Clinical Lead Movement Disorders, Director at Praxis Medicines

Monique Giroux, MD has extensive experience in the field of neurology and movement disorders. Monique'smost recent position is as the Clinical Lead Movement Disorders Director at Praxis Precision Medicines, Inc., a role they have held since November 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an Author, publishing a guide on integrating lifestyle, alternative, and conventional medicine for optimal health in Parkinson's disease starting in November 2015. From September 2018 to October 2022, Dr. Giroux served as the Director of Clinical Research Neurology Business Group at Eisai Inc.

In 2012, they founded the Movement & Neuroperformance Center of Colorado, PC, where they served as the Medical Director until August 2018. Additionally, they held the role of Medical Director of Movement Disorders & Deep Brain Stimulation at Swedish Hospital from September 2013 to June 2017.

Dr. Giroux's career also includes serving as the Medical Director of the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation from 2008 to 2013 and as the Medical Director of Outpatient Movement Disorders at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Neuromodulation from 2003 to 2007. Overall, their work experience demonstrates their expertise in movement disorders and their dedication to improving patient care and research in the field.

Monique Giroux, MD received their BS in Bioengineering from the University of Connecticut in 1986. Monique went on to earn their MD from Ohio State College of Medicine in 1992. Monique completed their Fellowship in Internal Medicine and Neurology at Yale New Haven from 1992 to 1996. Monique then pursued a Fellowship in Movement disorders and PET Imaging at Emory University School of Medicine from 1996 to 1998. In 2009, they completed another Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson. In 2012, they obtained a certification in Mindfulness Therapy for Healthcare Professionals from Duke University, and they are also Board Certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Additionally, they are a Therapeutic Yoga Instructor for Healthcare Professionals.
