Vanessa Alvarez

Vanessa Alvarez currently serves as a Front Desk/Medical Assistant at the Neurological Institute of Northern Virginia, PC, providing vital administrative support and patient care. Vanessa also contributes as a Crisis Text Line Volunteer, offering guidance and resources to individuals in distress, and holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer on the George Mason University Student Health Advisory Board, managing finances and communication with health offices. Involved in multiple organizations, Vanessa has co-founded Operation Smile at GMU, where fundraising and awareness for cleft surgery is prioritized, and mentors students through the Mariposas Mentoring Program. Past experiences include a DiversifiED Summer Apprenticeship at Weill Cornell Medicine, volunteering at Inova Health System, and tutoring high school students in STEM through Alexandria City Public Schools. Vanessa is pursuing a Master's in Public Health at George Mason University, building upon a Bachelor's degree in Biology.
