Chief Scientific Officer at Precision Diagnostics

Dr. Richard Thomas provides broad scientific knowledge and executive leadership experience to the team at Precision Diagnostics. Over the last 20 years, he has worked for several pharmaceutical companies including Avanir Pharmaceuticals, Johnson and Johnson, and Neurocrine Biosciences. Richard’s scientific background includes synthetic and analytical chemistry including robotics programming used in compound dispensing and analytical sample preparation. Richard brings a wealth of personal and professional relationships with vendors, scientists, and colleagues in the toxicology community which allows him to bring the latest and most advanced scientific technology to bear ensuring long-term competitiveness in the arena.

Richard joined Precision Diagnostics at the beginning of 2012 and is responsible for the scientific direction the organization has taken from the start. Initially the Chief Laboratory Scientist during the inception and initial growth phase, Richard was promoted to Chief Scientific Officer in 2014 when his efforts included cost reduction, systems efficiency, and automation aimed at driving company productivity, efficiency, accuracy, and profitability. As a dynamic team leader, Richard has helped build a successful innovative research and development and production support team providing cutting-edge solutions to the challenges faced in the industry.

Dr. Richard Thomas earned his B.S. in Chemistry from San Diego State University in 1995 and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from U.C. Riverside in 2001. Richard is an avid athlete who enjoys running and mountain biking and spending time with his family and golden retrievers.
