Kemin Zhou has a diverse work experience in the field of bioinformatics and genomics. They started their career as a Research Fellow at the Molecular Sciences Institute, where they worked under Sydney Brenner to study comparative genomics and develop methods to discover regulatory elements. After that, they worked as a Bioinformatics Scientist at Affymetrix and later at Ferring Research Institute.
In 2005, Zhou joined the Joint Genome Institute as a System Analyst 3 and worked there until 2011. Following this, they worked as a Bioinformatics Programmer at the Adecco Group for a year.
In 2013, they joined Bristol-Myers Squibb as a Research Investigator, where they were responsible for installing and evaluating cBio in a RedHat environment, managing TCGA data, and providing support for next-generation sequencing.
In 2015, Zhou moved to Roche Sequencing Solutions and served as a Principal Scientist until 2017. Their responsibilities included contributing to research and development projects in the field of sequencing technologies.
Since 2017, Zhou has been working as a Senior Director at Predicine Inc, where they continue to contribute their expertise in genomics and bioinformatics.
Kemin Zhou completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics and Breeding of Crop Plants from China Agricultural University, from 1980 to 1984. They then pursued a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Purdue University, from 1985 to 1991. To further their education, Zhou completed a Post Doctoral Training in Developmental Biology at UC San Diego from 1991 to 1995.
