Head Chaplain At Presbyterian Village Athens at Presbyterian Homes of Georgia

Christin Johnson Norman has extensive experience in pastoral and ministry roles. Their most recent position is as the Head Chaplain at Presbyterian Village Athens, which they started in February 2021. Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Family Ministry at Oconee Presbyterian Church from October 2018 to January 2021. In this role, they successfully recruited and trained a larger number of volunteers and nursery staffers, leading to increased participation in children's ministry.

Before their time at Oconee Presbyterian Church, Christin served as the Head of Staff Pastor at Woodland Presbyterian Church in Woodland, CA from December 2013 to July 2018. Christin provided creative worship, preaching, and leadership for a staff of six people. During their tenure, they also fostered a stronger community presence through projects such as building transitional housing for the homeless and organizing weekly meals at a homeless shelter.

Christin's experience also includes serving as the Interim Associate Pastor at Oakhurst Presbyterian Church from August 2012 to October 2013. Christin led alongside the senior pastor in various aspects of ministry and implemented a multicultural curriculum for Sunday School and Bible Studies.

Additionally, Christin has worked in other chaplaincy and pastoral roles, including serving as the Family Weekend Coordinator for L'Arche International and as a Chaplain at St. Luke's Counseling and Training Center and Church of the Holy Comforter. Christin also has experience as a Pastor Intern at St. John's Presbyterian Church and as a Chaplain's Assistant in the Northside Hospital Chaplaincy Department.

Outside of their formal roles, Christin has been actively involved in Special Olympics at UGA, where they were a Founding Co-President and coordinated various volunteer outreach programs for special education classes in Athens public schools.

Christin Johnson Norman obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication and Religion from The University of Georgia between 2005 and 2009. Christin then pursued a Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary, completing it from 2009 to 2012. In 2023, Christin acquired a Certification in Chaplaincy from the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).
