Laurie Dermer

Laurie Dermer is a Senior NLP Engineer at Presto since August 2023, with a notable career in natural language processing. Prior roles include serving as an NLP Engineer at Textio from June 2017 to April 2023 and internships that focused on NLP. Laurie has significant experience in academia, having worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Washington, contributing to the Grammar Matrix project under the guidance of Emily Bender from September 2015 to June 2016. Additional experience includes volunteering as a Translator for Kiva, where responsibilities involved translating documents and ensuring compliance, and serving as a Volunteer Refugee Anchor for Community Outreach and Advocacy for Refugees.
