Irene Thong

Irene Thong, CISM, GSTRT, PMP has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Irene has held various leadership roles in organizations such as Printpack, MeadWestvaco (MWV), Pathbuilders, Century Aluminum, and West Virginia University.

At Printpack, Irene served as the Senior Director of IT and Project Management, where they provided oversight for Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Protection, and Project Management. Irene was responsible for creating a vision, developing strategies, and managing relationships to ensure business alignment.

Prior to their role as Senior Director, Irene served as the Director of Project Management, Information Security & IT Support. In this role, they led the Enterprise Project Management Office and IT Technical Support, establishing Printpack's digital transformation journey and strengthening the company's project management culture and practices.

Before their tenure at Printpack, Irene held the role of Manager, Business Projects, where they provided decision support to C-Level Executives and the Board of Directors. Irene prioritized corporate projects strategically to differentiate Printpack from competitors and worked with internal and external customers to develop and execute project plans that improved productivity and sales growth.

Earlier in their career, Irene had held roles such as Business Projects Manager, Sales Account Manager, Corporate Project Manager, and Product Development Engineer at Printpack, where they demonstrated strong leadership, sales expertise, and project management skills.

Outside of Printpack, Irene has served as a Mentor at Pathbuilders and gained valuable experience as an Applications Engineer and Technical Sales Service Engineer at MeadWestvaco (MWV). Irene also held the role of Assistant Project Engineer Co-Op at Century Aluminum and worked as a Student Tutor at West Virginia University.

Irene Thong, CISM, GSTRT, PMP holds a Doctor of Technology degree from Purdue University, obtained in 2026. In 2021, Irene Thong completed a course in Design for Digital Transformation at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2020, they studied Cybersecurity: Managing Risk in the Information Age at Harvard University. Prior to that, Irene Thong earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Radford University in 2003. Irene also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University Institute of Technology, with minors in Economics and Mathematics, earned in 1999. In addition, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Sepang Institute of Technology, Malaysia in 1997.

Irene Thong has also obtained several certifications, including Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) from ISACA in 2023, GIAC Strategic Planning, Policy, and Leadership (GSTRT) from SANS Institute in 2020, and Project Management Professional (PMP) from Project Management Institute in 2008.
