Tamar Sarai D. is an experienced journalist and writer specializing in race and culture, with a notable focus on mass incarceration and its effects on Black women and girls. Currently serving as a Features Writer for Prism since February 2020, Tamar leads the organization’s criminal justice coverage. Prior work includes a role as a Campaign Researcher at Color Of Change, where research was provided for various criminal justice campaigns, and experience as a Freelance Writer. Tamar's educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Africana Studies from Wellesley College, a Master's Degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, and ongoing doctoral studies in History at Temple University.
