Michael Smith

Michael Smith has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Michael is currently working as the Senior Director of Practice Operations at Privia Health, a national physician practice management and population health technology company. In this role, they are responsible for partnering with leading doctors to improve healthcare delivery, manage disease, and align reimbursements to quality and outcomes.

Prior to Privia Health, from 2020 to 2022, Michael worked as the Director of Operations at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System. Here, they provided leadership and management for multiple outpatient/inpatient clinics and focused on transforming the organizational culture and systems to improve results.

In their role as the Regional Director of Standardization and Trauma Registry from 2013 to 2014, Michael played a key role in improving standardization of care across the medical community through global teleconferences and the publication of standard operating procedures.

Michael also served as the Clinical Practice Manager for the Immunization Clinic from 2012 to 2013, where they facilitated blood collections and coordinated influenza vaccination programs.

In their earlier years in the US Army, from 2011 to 2012, Michael served as the Medical Platoon Manager, where they led and mentored a team responsible for providing medical care and operational support to a combat unit. Michael also established training rotations to provide hands-on trauma care to personnel.

Lastly, from 2009 to 2011, Michael worked as a Senior Medical Line Manager, providing patient care, advising foreign counterparts in medical procedures, and organizing medical training courses. Michael began their Army career as a Medic, where they provided life-saving interventions and trained Service members in medical procedures.

Michael Smith's education history begins in 2010 when they enrolled at Barton Community College. Michael completed their Associate of Science (AS) degree at Barton Community College in 2013. Following their time at Barton Community College, Michael Smith attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville from 2015 to 2017. Michael obtained their Bachelor of Biological Sciences in Medical Science from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

In 2018, Michael Smith began their studies at the University of Arkansas Grantham, where they pursued a Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree with a focus on Health/Health Care Administration/Management. Michael completed their master's degree in 2022.
