Dirk Groten, PhD

Dirk Groten, PhD has worked in various roles in the technology industry since 2003. From 2003 to 2007, they worked as a Senior Consultant at KPN, responsible for architecture and technology of KPN Mobile Internet sites and Content Management Systems. Dirk then moved to Talpa, where they were the Technology Manager responsible for technology choices for Talpa's cross-media projects from 2007 to 2009. During this time, they were also a Co-founder and Partner at Naked Bits, where they helped companies to innovate by making new ideas tangible. In 2009, they became the CTO at Layar, where they achieved the goal of creating the visual search engine for everything. From 2014 to 2016, they were the VP of Engineering at Blippar, giving technical leadership to the various technical teams. From 2016 to 2020, they were the Founder and CEO at DEDICO Journeys for Learning. In 2020, they became the CTO at ProctorExam and in 2021, they took on the role of Head of Technology, Proctoring Services at Turnitin.

Dirk Groten earned their PhD in Physics from Leiden University between 1995 and 1999. Prior to that, they obtained their dipl. phys. in Physics from ETH Zürich between 1989 and 1994. Additionally, they have obtained two certifications from LinkedIn, Learning Docker in January 2022 and Learning Go in December 2021.
