David Mort

Partner at Propel Venture Partners

As a partner at Propel, David invests in early-stage companies that are leveraging technology to transform financial services. David has served on the board of Steady and works closely with companies such as Newfront, Hippo, Ease, and TravelBank. His professional experience includes working at leading retail and commercial banks, Silicon Valley Bank and BBVA.

At BBVA, David focused on venture capital investments, corporate development, strategy, and M&A. He was involved in BBVA’s acquisition of Simple and investments in companies such as Docusign, Coinbase, Earnest, SumUp, and Personal Capital.

At Silicon Valley Bank, David worked with hundreds of venture capital backed startups in the technology industry including many category-defining software companies. In addition to supporting startups with valuation engagements, David led research efforts in emerging industries, and efforts to identify top-performing companies utilizing data from within the bank.

David graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he double majored in Finance, Investment & Banking, and Management & Human Resources – Entrepreneurship.
