Tara Blitzer Benson

Tara Blitzer Benson is the current General Counsel at Proscia. Tara has held this position for 1 year and 3 months. Prior to joining Proscia, Tara was with Commvault for 13 years and 4 months, where they held various positions, including Senior Director, Trademark & Employment Counsel, Associate Counsel, Trademarks, Licensing & Employment Law, and Associate General Counsel. In their role as Associate General Counsel at Commvault, Tara was responsible for providing legal guidance to Commvault leadership, product marketing teams and engineering leads, to ensure that the company’s products and services were legally compliant. Tara also drafted, reviewed and negotiated all manner of agreements, including customer contracts, SaaS licenses, software licenses, vendor and partner agreements, and data use agreements. Tara was also the primary legal partner for the Marketing team, negotiating joint marketing and partner alliance agreements, MDF/BDF agreements, as well as vendor and event logistics agreements. In addition, they were an integral member of the global HR leadership team, ensuring that complex employee relations matters were handled efficiently and professionally. Tara also created and updated employment policies and handbooks, negotiated employment related agreements including restrictive covenants, various stock and compensation plans, and separation/severance agreements.

Tara Blitzer Benson attended Duke University School of Law from 1993 to 1996, where they were a Notes Editor for the Duke Journal of Comparative & International Law and a member of the Dean's Advisory Council. Tara also participated in the Domestic Violence Advocacy Project. Prior to attending Duke, Benson graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Policy Analysis in 1993. At Cornell, they were a member of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority and served as the Social Chairperson. Tara also participated in the Cornell in Washington Program and Literacy Volunteers, and was involved in Student Government.
