James E. (Jim) McMahon is an experienced professional in energy efficiency and standards development, currently serving as a subcontractor for 2050 Partners, Inc. and a technical adviser for Aspen Environmental Group, focusing on energy demand analysis for the California Energy Commission. McMahon is a member of the Demand Analysis Advisory Committee for the Northwest Power and Conservation Council and has been actively involved with CLASP since 2012, providing technical advice and co-leading a chapter on standards analysis. As CEO and founder of Better Climate Research and Policy Analysis, McMahon supports the development of energy standards and forecasting. Previous roles include a technical consultant for the California Public Utilities Commission and a staff scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where significant contributions were made in managing research projects and analyzing energy efficiency impacts. Academically, McMahon holds a PhD in Molecular Biophysics from Florida State University and a BS in Chemistry from Providence College.
