Barry Gauld has extensive experience in mechanics within the oil and gas industry, currently serving as a rig mechanic at Prospector Offshore Drilling S.A. since February 2014, while also holding a position as a mechanical/hydraulic technician at Transocean since November 2010, focusing on the service and repair of rig equipment and maintaining high safety standards. Previously, Barry worked as a maintenance technician at Halliburton from January 2007 to November 2010, providing service and repair for oil and gas equipment, and as an agricultural mechanic at AM Phillip Agritech from June 2000 to August 2007, specializing in the repair of agricultural equipment. Education was obtained at The Gordon Schools in Huntly from 1996 to 2000.

Prospector Offshore Drilling S.A. is a high specification jack-up drilling contractor. Prospector currently has two rigs within its fleet and contracts in place for the design, construction and delivery of an additional three JU2000E high specification, harsh environment ("HS/HE") jack-up drilling rigs. Prospector also has an option agreement for the construction of an additional rig of the same design. Upon deployment, Prospector will have the newest fleet of HS/HE jack-ups in the world, operating with the most advanced drilling systems, under a proven management team.
