Diana Bordalo has a diverse range of work experience spanning multiple fields. Diana is currently working as a Project Manager at ProtaGene since January 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Facts&Reasons from May 2020 to April 2022 as a Web designer and translator.

Diana's educational background includes a PhD research project titled "Loss of CSPA leads to heart failure in zebrafish" at the University of Heidelberg, where they worked from November 2015 to November 2019. During this time, they also had an internship at Francesca Peri's Group at EMBL from June 2015 to October 2015.

In addition to their academic pursuits, Diana worked as an IT team member at BioContact E.V. from 2017 to 2018, a Student Mentor at Heidelberg Biosciences International Graduate School from 2016 to 2017, and conducted research projects at CEDOC (Chronic Disease Research Center) and IMM (Institute of Molecular Medicine) from June 2014 to June 2015.

Before their academic and scientific career, Diana worked in various positions. Diana was a Group Sales Manager at Yves Rocher from September 2011 to August 2014, where they were responsible for recruiting new sales officers, managing the network of customers and orders, and overseeing online marketing campaigns. Diana also worked as a Shop Assistant at O Papagaio sem Penas - Loja de Brinquedos from November 2013 to June 2014, where they were responsible for selling and managing the stocks and inventory of toys and games.

Diana's early professional experience includes an internship at Centro de Patogênese Molecular – Unidade de Retrovírus e Infecções Associadas (CFM-URIA) from June 2013 to March 2014, where they worked on the characterization of the HIV-2 gag gene using various techniques such as cloning, lymphocyte and macrophage culture, and transfection.

Diana Bordalo began their education journey in 2006 at the Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional, where they studied piano and obtained a 5th degree out of a total of 8 degrees. Diana further pursued their academic interests by enrolling in Instituto Superior de Agronomia from 2008 to 2012, where they earned their Bachelor's degree in Biology, with a focus on the general field. In 2011, Diana spent a year as an Erasmus student at SLU - Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, exploring biotechnology. Diana then continued their studies at Universidade Nova de Lisboa from 2012 to 2015, where they achieved a Master's degree specializing in molecular genetics and biomedicine. Finally, from 2015 to 2019, they attended Universitätsklinikum Heidelberg, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Biology.
