Richard Ford has a diverse work experience in the automotive industry. Richard started their career at the University of Cambridge as a Research Associate from 2000 to 2003. Richard then joined McLaren Racing in 2002 as a Control Systems Engineer, where they developed various software strategies and philosophies for gearbox and torque control. In 2005, they became the Team Leader Systems Engineering at McLaren Racing Ltd., responsible for systems engineering, clutch system design, and powertrain energy management. In 2016, they moved to McLaren Racing as a Principal Engineer, a role they held until 2018. Since 2018, they have been working at Protean Electric, initially as a Vehicle Controls Manager and later as the Vehicle Engineering and Controls Manager. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Engineer at Protean Electric.
Richard Ford attended The University of Manchester from 1995-1996, where they received a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Control Systems. Richard then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Control Engineering from the University of Cambridge from 1996-2000.
