Patrick Schmiedt has had a diverse work experience spanning from 2002 to the present. Patrick started their career as a Law Clerk at Cohen & Malad, where they conducted legal research, drafted legal documents, and reviewed contracts for business negotiations and litigation. In 2006, Patrick joined Protective Insurance as a Product Development Manager, where they reviewed current products, identified improvement opportunities, and managed projects for implementation. From 2007 to 2011, they took on roles such as Reinsurance Manager and Excess Claim Supervisor, where they supervised reinsurance programs, audited property reinsurance, and resolved large transportation-related insurance claims. In 2011, they became the Managing Director of Fleet Underwriting, overseeing risk evaluation, pricing, and profitability for a national transportation accounts book. In 2015, Patrick became Assistant Vice President of Underwriting, assisting in the development of a new non-transportation focused workers' compensation product. In February 2016, they were promoted to Vice President of Underwriting, where they directed and oversaw all underwriting functions of a profitable $325MM commercial auto and workers' compensation book.
Patrick Schmiedt completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Business, with a concentration in Marketing, at Butler University from 1998 to 2002. Patrick then pursued further education and obtained a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in Law at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, as well as a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Business from Indiana University - Kelley School of Business, during the period from 2002 to 2006.
