Al Gushurst

Al Gushurst has extensive experience in software development and architecture. Al is currently working as the Senior Software Architect at Protein Metrics Inc., where they designed and implemented the Byosphere platform for managing protein analysis data. Before joining Protein Metrics, Al worked as an Independent Consultant, providing software development consulting services. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Engineering at SKUR, Inc., a cloud analytics company focusing on delivering solutions to construction companies. Al also has experience in research and development software development, having worked as the Director of R&D Software Development at Agilent Technologies, where they designed a new automation platform for controlling research instruments. Additionally, Al founded Meerkat Software, a company providing project governance and issue tracking tools for the pharmaceutical and medical device markets. Al also held the position of VP Software Product Development at Symyx Technologies, managing a multi-site product development organization. Al began their career at Elsevier MDL, where they served in various roles including Director and Group Manager, and worked on projects involving database management and user interface design for chemical data management systems.

Al Gushurst received their B.A. degree in Chemistry and Math from St. Olaf College, where they studied from 1979 to 1983. Following that, they pursued a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Purdue University, completing their doctoral degree from 1983 to 1988.
