Wilfred Tang has a strong background in software development, particularly in the field of proteomics. Wilfred started their career as a Software Engineer at Genetics Computer Group, where they designed and coded new applications and fixed bugs in existing software. Wilfred then worked at Thermo Electron as a Bioinformaticist, where they participated in developing software for storing and analyzing proteomics data. At Applied Biosystems, they served as a Staff Software Engineer and was responsible for developing ProteinPilot, a tool for protein identification and biomarker discovery. Wilfred also implemented ProteomicS PEP, a tool for estimating false discovery rates in protein identification. After that, they joined Agilent Technologies as an R&D Software Engineer, focusing on developing software for characterizing proteins and implementing false discovery rate calculations. Currently, Wilfred works at Protein Metrics Inc. as a Sr. Software Engineer and Software Release Manager. In their current role, they have led the development of various software tools, including Supernovo for de novo sequencing of antibodies and software for analyzing disulfide-bonded proteins and crosslinked proteins. Wilfred also integrated Protein Metrics software with external workflow software. Overall, Wilfred Tang has significant expertise in software development for proteomics applications and a strong track record of successful project implementations.
Wilfred Tang completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, from 1988 to 1992. Wilfred then pursued further education and obtained their Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Chicago from 1992 to 1999.
