Mohamed Elkerdawy began their career in 2019 as a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant at Zewail City of Science and Technology. In 2020, they became the Chief Information Officer at Proteinea, a company with a mission to build a full-stack biomanufacturing platform to ultimately reduce the timeline of protein engineering from years to a few months. In 2021, they joined Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a Healthcare and Life Sciences CTO Fellowship, where they participated in weekly sessions with CTOs from top late-stage startups covering topics such as Goal Setting & Managing Your Engineering Team, Design Principles for Cloud Architecture, Influencing Your Product Roadmap, and Recruiting Technical Talent. In 2022, they became a Business Partner in a Soft Landing Program at KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) as part of 'Destination Deep Tech,' a Saudi-first program that spins in leading-edge global startups to the Kingdom to develop deep tech innovations.

Mohamed Elkerdawy obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computational Biology from Zewail City of Science and Technology between 2015 and 2019. Mohamed then went on to pursue a Master of Science (M.S.) in Artificial Intelligence from the same institution between 2019 and 2021. Mohamed has also obtained several certifications from Coursera, including Command Line Tools for Genomic Data Science (2020), Algorithms for DNA Sequencing (2020), Bioconductor for Genomic Data Science (2020), Whole genome sequencing of bacterial genomes - tools and applications (2018), Genomic Data Science with Galaxy (2017), and Introduction to Genomic Technologies (2016).
