Januar Wirawan, P.Eng.

Januar Wirawan, P.Eng. has over 27 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. From 1994 to 2001, they worked as a Reservoir Engineer at Total. From 2001 to 2003, they were a Reservoir Analyst at APA Petroleum Engineering Inc. From 2003 to 2014, they worked as a Petroleum Engineer at Wirawan Consulting Services, where they were responsible for typecurve creation, reserves evaluations, and AEUB annual reports for miscible flooding operations. From 2014 to 2021, they were a Sr. Staff Reservoir Engineer at Husky Energy, where they executed reservoir engineering studies on various unconventional plays, including well test design and analysis, fluids studies, well start-up management, completion and production designs and techniques, reserves evaluation, public database query and analysis, and regulatory compliance. Januar was also part of the group who brought ~140 sections of Montney land (liquid-rich gas to volatile oil) into Husky’s portfolio. From 2004 to 2021, they were a Senior Reservoir Engineer and Senior Development Engineer at Encana Corporation. As a Senior Reservoir Engineer, they were tasked with reservoir characterization of Duvernay Shale play corridor, including well test design and analysis, fluids studies, well start-up management, reserves evaluation, public database query and analysis, and regulatory compliance. As a Senior Development Engineer, they were responsible for budget planning and execution, look back and long-range planning, reserves evaluation, JV activities, mentoring young professionals, supervising reservoir modeling work, regulation compliance, and well abandonment planning. Since 2021, they have been a Reservoir Engineer at Proton Technologies Canada, where they are responsible for oxygen injection planning, hydrogen generation from hydrocarbon reservoirs via in-situ combustion process, and hydrocarbon to hydrogen asset evaluation.

Januar Wirawan, P.Eng. obtained their Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Universitas Katolik Parahyangan (UNPAR) in 1990. Januar then went on to obtain their Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University. In 2004, they obtained their Professional Engineer (PE) certification from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). Most recently, in November 2020, they obtained their Grizzly Certified certification from Higher Landing Inc.
