Thomas P. Corcoran

Thomas P. Corcoran is a Trustee at Providence College. Thomas was previously a Senior Managing Director at GE and a Managing Director at Fleet Boston Financial.

Corcoran has over 35 years of experience in the financial industry. Thomas began their career at Fleet Boston Financial in 1981, where they held various positions over 23 years before being promoted to Managing Director. In 2004, they left Fleet to join GE as a Senior Managing Director.

At GE, Corcoran was responsible for presenting the GE Capital board with a unique, start up business opportunity. Thomas led the effort to obtain Board and GE Treasury approval to hire a team of seasoned professionals that provided interest rate hedging advisory and execution on variable rate debt originated by diverse GE Capital businesses.

Corcoran helped establish all required infrastructure for transaction execution across GE finance, legal, tax, compliance, operations, treasury and risk functions. This enabled the company to grow its franchise and its client base to manage financial risk. The team successfully completed over 700 transactions which hedged over $36 billion of loan volume that generated incremental fees, enhanced loan returns, and deepened client relationships.

Thomas P. Corcoran earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Providence College.
