Toni Carlton has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Starting in 2005, they worked as an Aboriginal Education Worker for School District 57, where they provided support and assistance to Aboriginal students and their families. From 2005 to 2006, they held the role of Regional Program Coordinator at Parent Support Services of BC, managing administrative tasks and coordinating volunteer facilitators.
In 2006, Toni took on the position of Peer Counsellor Coordinator at UNBC, where they oversaw a peer counselling program that integrated First Nations knowledge of health and healing with clinical psychological approaches. Toni remained in this role until 2013.
During the same period, from 2008 to 2012, they served as a Community Circle Facilitator for The Minerva Foundation For BC Women. In this role, they organized leadership development opportunities for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal women and created workshops on various topics.
From 2013 to 2018, Toni gained experience as the Executive Director of Carney Hill Neighbourhood Centre, a non-profit organization offering child care options and cultural programs. In 2016, they also worked as a Counsellor at Prince George Youth Custody Centre.
In 2017, they became an Instructor at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), where they taught courses until 2023. In 2018, they took on the role of Foundry Manager at the YMCA of Northern BC, and in 2019, they became the Director of Experience, Wellness, and Engagement at Providence Health Care.
In 2020, they transitioned within the same company to the position of Provincial Director of Community, Culture & Connection. The end dates for their most recent roles are not specified. Overall, Toni Carlton has demonstrated expertise in education, program coordination, counseling, and leadership development throughout their career.
Toni Carlton has a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Counselling, which was obtained from the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) from 2013 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed all coursework for a degree in First Nations Studies at UNBC from 2009 to 2013. Toni holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History from UNBC, which was earned from 1997 to 1999. Toni completed a university transfer program in Social Sciences at the College of New Caledonia from 1994 to 1997. Additionally, they successfully graduated from Nechako Valley Secondary School in 1992, fulfilling their high school graduation requirements.
