Provincie Groningen
Michiel Rooke is an experienced archaeologist with a robust background in provincial archaeology and research management. Since September 2015, Michiel has served as Provinciaal Archeoloog at Provincie Groningen. Prior to this role, Michiel was a bestuurslid at the Vereniging voor Terpenonderzoek from December 2014 to April 2024, contributing to the promotion of archaeological research related to the activities of inhabitants along the Wadden Sea. Michiel's earlier positions include Beheerder at Noordelijk Archeologisch Depot from August 2009 to August 2015, where archaeological finds from Drenthe, Friesland, and Groningen were preserved, and Adviseur archeologie at Libau from November 2005 to August 2009. Michiel also worked as a projectmedewerker at Noordelijk Archeologisch Depot from July 2003 to October 2005. Education was completed at the University of Groningen, earning a degree in Archeologie from 1997 to 2003, following VWO studies at GSG in Emmen from 1991 to 1997.
