Sam Thong possesses extensive experience in the mining and mineral processing industry, with a career spanning over three decades. Currently serving as TE Dewatering Portside at Freeport Indonesia since February 2019, roles have included management and coordination of dewatering and metallurgical processes in various operations. Previous positions include Dewatering (Filter Plant) Coordinator and Senior Process Engineer at CITIC Pacific Mining Management Pty Ltd, with a focus on production optimization of large dewatering plants. Earlier roles involved senior metallurgist positions across multiple companies, where responsibilities encompassed commissioning, project development, and metallurgical accounting for various mining projects.
