Kharisma Surya has over a decade of experience in the engineering sector, currently working at PT. Surya Energi Indotama, a subsidiary of PT LEN Industri (Persero), since February 2012, where responsibilities include designing solar power systems, both off-grid and on-grid, as well as hybrid systems, and preparing necessary documentation. Prior to this role, Kharisma served as the Minister of Innovation Management at HME ITB from December 2010 to December 2011. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering in Power Engineering from Institut Teknologi Bandung, completed in 2011, and a high school diploma from SMAN 2 Bandung, graduated in 2007.

Since 1997, the development of renewable energy, especially solar power, has been initiated by PT Len Industri with forming Energy Business Unit. In February 2009, the Energi Business Unit developed into a subsidiary by the name of PT Surya Energi Indotama (PT SEI) with PT Len Industri as major shareholder by 90% and PT Eltran Indonesia by 10%. After quite a while focusing on solar power, SEI strive to develop ability with utilizing a variety of other renewable energy sources including wind, water, biomass, and geothermal.
