Scott Barraza

Scott Barraza is a seasoned professional in medicinal chemistry with a robust background in drug discovery and development. Currently serving as the Group Leader for Early Discovery Chemistry at PTC Therapeutics, Inc. since September 2017, Scott oversees chemistry programs and collaborates closely with biology teams on hit discovery initiatives. Previously, Scott held the position of Scientist II, where responsibilities included designing and synthesizing small molecules for lead optimization. Scott's academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Michigan and previous research roles as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Graduate Student Researcher at the University of Michigan, as well as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Arizona State University.
