Aaron Jeffers received a Bachelor’s of Arts in History with Honors from Georgia State University in 2004. After observing injustice firsthand while working for the Southern Poverty Law Center, Aaron decided to dedicate his career to public defense. Aaron received a fellowship from the Willamette University Public Interest Law Project that allowed him to be a law clerk for the Public Defender of Marion County after his first year of law school in 2009. And he was selected as a National Member of the Order of Barristers for excellence in courtroom advocacy during law school. He earned his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law in 2011 and was proud to join the PDMC as an attorney when he was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in October of that year.
Aaron has worked on over 1,000 cases for clients facing criminal charges from misdemeanors to homicides, contempt of court, probation violations, civil commitment, and restraining order violations. Aaron has also worked to pass important criminal justice reforms as a lobbyist for the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association and remains a voting member of the OCDLA Legislative Committee. Additionally, Aaron has served as a member of the Oregon State Bar’s Uniform Criminal Jury Instruction Committee, and as a Board Member for the non-profit Deschutes Family Recovery.
