David Hausner has extensive experience in the field of public health, with a focus on global health initiatives. David has held various program director roles at the Public Health Institute, including overseeing fellowship and internship programs funded by USAID. David has also worked on technical assistance projects in South Asia. Additionally, they have served as a professorial lecturer in global health at The George Washington University. Prior to their work at the Public Health Institute, Hausner worked as a consultant at PeopleTree, where they contributed to proposal development and planning for global health fellowship programs. David has also worked as a project director at Social Solutions International, Inc., coordinating implementation research for health programs in Tanzania. Before that, they held leadership positions at John Snow, Inc. (JSI), where they provided technical assistance and strategic guidance on HIV and health projects in India and Central Asia. Hausner's experience also includes working as a team leader for HIV and infectious diseases at the Center for Education and Development Activities (CEDPA), managing USAID-funded grants in Cambodia. David has worked as an independent consultant, providing technical expertise in the areas of HIV and child survival programs. Earlier in their career, they conducted research on HIV-related sexual risk behavior at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and worked as a regional technical advisor at CARE USA.
David Hausner has a PhD in Social Sciences and International Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, obtained in 2002. David also holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in International and Family Health from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, obtained in 1992. In addition, they have a Master of International Affairs (MIA) degree in Economic and Political Development from Columbia | SIPA, completed in 1992. Hausner's education began with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, completed in 1987.
