Brett Edwards

Brett Edwards is a consultant at Ponderosa Strategies, specializing in law and nonprofit management to enhance social impact through strategy, policy, operations, and partnerships. Since 2022, Brett has also served as an adjunct professor and a consultant for the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience, while contributing as a senior peace fellow at the Public International Law & Policy Group, where Brett previously held multiple leadership roles from 2012 to 2019, including Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Pro Bono Counsel. Brett's extensive background includes designing security and crisis management programs in active conflict zones and experience with the United Nations' Department of Economic and Social Affairs. Brett holds a JD from American University Washington College of Law, an MA in International Relations and Affairs from American University School of International Service, and a BA in Diplomacy & World Affairs from Occidental College, complemented by additional education at the Salzburg Seminar.

The Public International Law & Policy Group, a Nobel Peace Prize nominee, operates as a non-profit, global pro bono law firm providing free legal assistance to its clients, which include governments, sub-state entities, and civil society groups worldwide. PILPG provides pro bono legal counsel to clients on peace negotiation, drafting of post-conflict constitutions, creation and operation of transitional justice mechanisms, and ways to strengthen the rule of law and effective institutions. Since 1995, we have worked with over 40 state and non-state parties and provided legal assistance to all major war crimes tribunals. We maintain close partnerships with 12 of the top 15 law firms and have over 700 alumni working in the fields of law, government, foreign policy, business, and social advocacy around the world.
