Caity Peterson has a diverse work experience in various organizations. Caity started their career as a Retail Associate at Barnes & Noble in 2011, before moving on to work as a Science Writing Consultant and Visiting Researcher at CGIAR Climate Change, Agriculture & Food Security (CCAFS) from 2012 to 2014. During this time, they also served as the Blog Coordinator for global agricultural conferences.

In 2014, Caity joined the University of California, Davis as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow, where they conducted research on ecological complexity and biophysical resilience in agricultural ecosystems. Caity gained expertise in plant physiology, soils, precision agriculture, and data analysis during this period.

Caity then took on roles as a Visiting Graduate Researcher at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in 2016 and as a Remote Sensing for Precision Agriculture intern at Wonderful Orchards. In 2018, they served as an Australia-Americas PhD Research Intern at CSIRO.

From 2019 to 2020, Caity worked as an independent contractor at Point Blue Conservation Science and as a Soil Carbon Specialist at Mad Agriculture. In these roles, they contributed to ecosystem services, agricultural land use, and soil health projects.

In 2020, Caity expanded their expertise in water policy by joining the Public Policy Institute of California as an Adjunct Fellow. Caity currently holds the position of Associate Director and Research Fellow at the Water Policy Center.

Caity also worked as an Independent Contractor at World Agroforestry from 2020 to 2021. Through this experience, they demonstrated their skills as a contractor.

Caity Peterson's education history includes a PhD in Ecology from the University of California, Davis, which they obtained from 2016 to 2019. Prior to that, they pursued a Master's Degree in International Agricultural Development from the same university, from 2014 to 2016. Caity completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Environmental Science at Stetson University from 2007 to 2011. Additionally, in 2010, they attended The School for Field Studies, where they studied Wildlife Ecology, Wildlife Management, Environmental Policy, and Swahili language. In 2006, Caity Peterson participated in a Study Abroad program at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, focusing on Spanish Language and Spanish Art History.
