Puget Sound Regional Council
Doug Cox, AICP, serves as the Principal Transportation Planner at Puget Sound Regional Council since March 2022, previously holding the position of Senior Transportation Planner at the Washington State Department of Transportation from April 2016 to March 2022. In that role, Doug provided technical assistance and oversight for federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organizations and state Regional Transportation Planning Organizations, while also acting as a legislative analyst. Prior experience includes Principal Transportation Planner at Island County Public Works, where Doug managed transportation elements of the comprehensive plan and led the formation of the Island Transportation Planning Organization. Earlier roles include Associate Transportation Planner at Seattle Department of Transportation, focusing on urban planning and project implementation, and Planner II at the University of Washington. Education includes a Master of Urban Planning in Transportation and Land Use from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in German Language and Literature from Colorado College.
