Puget Sound Regional Council
Mary Richards is an experienced planning professional currently serving as an Associate Planner at Puget Sound Regional Council since June 2020. Prior roles include Assistant Planner and various teaching and research assistant positions at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where Mary assisted with GIS concepts, facilitated discussions, and supported curriculum development in multiple geography-related courses. Earlier internship experiences at Kittelson & Associates, Inc., and the City and County of San Francisco further developed skills in transportation planning and GIS engineering. Mary's diverse background also includes leadership in hands-on construction projects with Habitat for Humanity and a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital focusing on clinical investigation. Academic credentials include a Master's degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, alongside a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Chemistry from Middlebury College.
